My Approach

I believe in helping couples create personal and creative ceremonies that reflect their hopes, beliefs, and personal style. Every couple is unique and so every ceremony uniquely reflects their relationship with one another, with God, and with the gathered family and friends around them. I respect the many ways that individuals and couples experience and express their relationship with God and let the couples’ spirituality and comfort guide choices about sacred language in the ceremony. I officiate spiritual, Christian, interfaith, and non-religious ceremonies. Using my ceremony workbook and any traditions or ideas that you provide, I guide you through the entire process of crafting a unique, meaningful, and personal ceremony.

Meet Rev. Julie Price

Rev. Julie Price, Wedding Minister

I have had the privilege of working with couples to plan and officiate their weddings since 2001. I have officiated over 200 weddings since then, ranging from very formal affairs with hundreds of guests to informal backyard bashes with just a few family and friends. I have officiated weddings in historic mansions, family homes, hotels, churches, and park settings to name a few. I even officiated a "flash mob" wedding that got unsuspecting passerbys to participate in the fun!

I am a strong supporter of marriage equality, believing in the sacredness of the relationship between two people choosing to knit their lives together in a loving, committed union, regardless of the sexual orientation of the two partners. I offer the same wedding services to all couples, gay and straight, and have had the honor of officiating legal same sex marriage ceremonies in the District of Columbia, beginning on the first day the law went into effect! I have a customized ceremony workbook that I use with LGBT couples to craft marriage ceremonies that capture the joy of this very special moment in a couple’s life and in history.

Additionally I offer Marriage Prep sessions to the engaged couples with whom I work. I’ve been married for many years myself and know how important it is to have a strong foundation of communication, connection, honesty, and understanding to make it through the difficulties and be able to really enjoy the good times that life brings your way. I offer a basic package of three 90 minute sessions which can be expanded to include more sessions if desired. With the Prepare-Enrich customized assessment tool, I help couples understand and appreciate one another more fully and help them create deeper, healthier relationships.

Finally, I’m a local girl, having grown up in Northern Virginia and graduated from Herndon High School. I have an undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. I have been on the staff of churches in Virginia, Georgia, and Texas. My husband and I have been married for 18 years and live with our two rambunctious sons in Reston, VA.
